THE ALEATORY TAG
Here are the rules:

1. Post these rules
2. Each tagged person should post 8 aleatory (which means dependent on chance, luck, or an uncertain outcome?) facts about themselves
3. Tagged people should write a journal\blog about these facts
4. In the end tag and name 8 people
5. Go to their dA pages and comment saying that they are tagged and effed

1. It has been so long since I've written anything other than my signature in cursive handwriting that I've completely forgotten how to write some letters in that format. As it is, my signature has devolved into an intricate series of meaningless scribbles, so when I actually attempt to write it out clearly my handwriting looks like that of a ten year old.

2. My grandmother used to have a spare key hanging from a small hook near the top of the door frame just inside the screen door of her home in case she accidentally locked herself out. This didn't occur to me as a child and I once asked her what the key was there for. She sarcastically replied, "So that if a burglar tries to get in he doesn't have to break the windows to get inside," and I believed her. I forgot about her comment for several years and after she died I remembered the remark and for the first time realized that it had been a joke.

3. There was once a time when I thought that it was very attractive and risque for girls to have tattoos. As it seems that more girls these days have them than don't, I find the idea of a girl with no ink much more appealing than I did before, as though they were rare or elusive.

4. My favorite video game of all time is Metal Gear Solid for the Playstation. While I'm sure I've logged in more hours on a game like Guitar Hero or Amplitude, I've beaten MGS more often than any other game (I'd estimate between twenty and thirty times). At one point in the game you are presented with a choice: submit to torture or stick it out and mash some buttons repeatedly to resist the torture. If you resist and beat the game you will earn a bandana which gives you unlimited ammunition when you play through the game again. If you submit and beat the game you will earn a suit which allows you to become invisible the next time you play. Although the invisibility suit sounds extremely fun to use, in all the times I've played the game I've never once earned it because I never want to allow myself to submit to the torture. Also of note: the average time that it takes to beat the game is around six hours; my fastest time being one hour and fifty eight minutes.

5. I was once sitting on a four wheeler while my father attached something to back of it with one of those rubber bungee cords with hooks on the end. The bungee cord got away from him and hooked me below my lower lip. I now have a scar (normally concealed by my beard) and a horrible fear of hooked bungee cords. A similar fear of mine comes from the attic in my home. We have one of those trap doors on the ceiling with stairs that fold out of it and huge, thick springs which help to keep it in place. I was once exiting my room (which is not far from the attic door) when my mother was opening the attic and one of those springs broke loose and flew across the hallway, slamming into my bedroom door a few inches from my head as I opened it. Now I hate going into the attic for fear of the springs and I cover my face with my arms whenever I have to go up there.

6. I like to think that I have a pretty strong stomach. My father hunts religiously, so I've seen and handled gutted deer plenty of times, and I've never seen a grotesque pornographic act that has turned my stomach (including 2 Girls, 1 Cup). However in recent memory I've seen two things that, much to my own surprise, made me physically gag at their sight. One was when Chris Pontius drank a container of fresh horse semen in Jackass 2, and the other was when Bam Margera drank from a spittoon in Jackass 2.5.

7. I have no problem admitting that I'm a nerd. At the current time I have eleven long boxes full of comic books (each can hold about 300 books) and two short boxes (about 150 per). I also have several stray issues sitting in piles and on a rotating comic rack that my father bought me several years ago at a market. In addition to the single issues, I also have six bookshelf shelves full of trade paperbacks and hardcover volumes (each shelf is about the length of a long box). By my estimation, that adds up to approximately somewhere between 6,600 and 7,000 comic books.

8. When I was a child my favorite comic strip was Garfield. I used to cut the strips out of the newspaper, repeatedly borrow the collected volumes from the library, and watch the cartoon every morning. As such, I've always wanted an orange cat, and when I was younger I had intentions of getting one and naming it Garfield. I still aspire to some day own an orange cat, but have since dropped the wish to name it Garfield and have instead committed myself to naming it Night Shift after Cuba Gooding Jr.'s nickname for Skeet Ulrich's character in the movie Chill Factor.
